Doc Convicted Of $7M Medicare Fraud Through False Diagnoses

A federal jury on Tuesday found a Florida ophthalmologist guilty of collecting $7.1 million from Medicare after treating patients for retinal diseases they didn’t have.

The jury found David Ming Pon, 56, guilty on all 20 counts of health care fraud he was facing, which could lead to a decade in prison. He was accused of purposely misdiagnosing more than 500 Medicare beneficiaries.
